a shooting star a mandolin and hanna tuulikki

A quick trip to Devon this weekend to surprise mum, wish her a happy 70th and see her open the mandolin.....Ben made a leather strap with all of our names on and Wren barged in with the first strum of the strings....

I wanted to photograph all of the vased flowers around the house as mum always does lovely delicate posies of flowers from the garden - but I only got round to doing one........more next time I hope.

the trip was tantalisingly short - no time to watch the starlings gathering in the tall trees at the bottom of the garden, or even to take a walk round the garden...the weekend has been punctuated by illnesses...
but we did see a shooting star on our dark drive there.  On arrival we were treated to late night lasagne while Ben entertained with readings from an old school book (circa 1987) found in his loft rummagings.

We drove back under the gaze of various road side buzzards and discovered hanna tuulikki's eerie and odd bird songs {via the gift that is radio 4} on the way home.
