the cushion hobby

As a frequent visitor to the RSPB site to use their bird identifier, I found this great drawing of a hobby which inspired some of my Christmas cards {spot the difference}.  He is now my inspiration for a new cushion.   I  love objects which marry practicality with great images or pattern  - I am extremely pleased by a great tea-towel {although I bought the night and day Lucienne Day tea-towel and framed it}. Over the last two years I have made four cushions, sewing is slow going -  a one legged owl, a donkey and two faces - I'm trying to draw with the thread....this is an ongoing project.

I love the bird Claire. Makes me think of a favorite book of mine by a favorite childrens author, Barbro Lindgren. The book is called Loranga, Mazarin och Dartanjan. And Barbro did some drawings her self for it. See a couple here:

thanks for the post & link Elisabeth - just had a look, great illustration - i really like the peoples 'in action' wobbly legs! Lots of snow here today - you know what we are like with the snow >> the country is paralysed! It's a good cushion making day!
