JR and some other stuff.

A few images from around the house and garden - my new cat mirror and an elaborate elastic band hanger.

Chim sent me a link  about JR a French photographer who has been working in a Rio de Janeiro favela- amazing,  LOOK!

Fry-ish

I've been sketching from Stephen Fry's fantastic face - some are fry-ish some aren't  - it's been good messing about with his features.

Origin 2009 -13 to the 18 October

one last thing to say before I go off in search of more diversion activities instead of doing what really needs doing: I now have my stand number and week confirmed for Origin. I am in week two which is 13 - 18 October and on Stand M6.  Make a note, see you there!

Andrew Logan

I caught the end of the Andrew Logan exhibition at the Harley Gallery last week and was sucked into his world of glittering colour, glass, mirror and curiously transformed objects.  A giant portrait of Gandhi growing out of an elaborately collaged India sticks in my mind. I came away with the book (Andrew Logan  - An Artistic Adventure - two pictures from this above), a tip off about his museum in Wales and a need to know more about the Alternative Miss World Contest that Logan seems to have started.  I particularly like his half and half.

Bath Spa University degree show

Had a quick whizz round the degree show last week, here are a couple of my favourite things. Amanda Hourieh's lady t-shirts with great dark cheeks and Rebecca Vernon's carved pieces - both bodies of work beautifully presented. Rebecca will be at New Designers in Islington in July.  Also enjoyed Dawn Lippiatts metal bed installation and Steven McCracken trying to do a canvas while going about his everyday life.

There is a kind of love called maintenance

I heard this poem  -  Atlas -  yesterday for the first time, knowing nothing of U. A. Fanthorpe. The first line got me and I was hooked.

New Brewery Arts

I've just heard that 'No place like home' has been selected for the Open at New Brewery Arts in Cirencester - the theme is Crossings.  The show runs from 27 June - 23 August.

The Contemporary Craft Fair

Thanks to everyone who visited me at The Contemporary Craft Fair in Bovey Tracey, Devon at the weekend. The marquee did get a bit soggy after 5 hours of torrential rain but the visitors kept coming - here are some images of my stand. I met some great people - I was sandwiched between Gary Allson and Helaina Sharpley. Nifty Thrifty visited my stand and the Oriel Myrddin Gallery  -  I'll be working on a piece for their Christmas Exhibition in their beautiful space in Carmarthen.
